Maharashtra Reading Inspiration Day

Maharashtra Reading Inspiration Day (Vaachan Prerna Divas) was celebrated on 15th October 2026 at VNTAMV to commemorate the birth anniversary of the late former President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. The programme was organised with the objective of promoting reading habits among students and staff and encouraging them to explore the world of books and literature.

The programme began with a welcome address by the Librarian, Mrs. Asawari Chavan. This was followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony and the offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam by the Principal, Dr. Manisha Dunghav, as a mark of respect and remembrance.

The highlight of the programme was an insightful talk on “The Importance of Reading in Our Lives” delivered by Principal Dr. Manisha Dunghav and Associate Professor Dr. Kanchan Lovalekar. The speakers emphasised the importance of reading in enhancing knowledge, developing critical thinking, improving language skills, and broadening one’s perspective. They encouraged students to cultivate regular reading habits and make effective use of the library as a valuable source of knowledge and lifelong learning.

An important part of the celebration was the announcement of the recipients of the Best Library User Award for the academic year 2024–25. The award was presented to recognise and appreciate students for their active use of library resources and their enthusiasm for reading.
